Yes this is in Iloilo and No, this is not a Cherry Tree like the ones in Japan or Korea. The Tree is found in Cabatuan Iloilo, at the corner of the park facing the beautiful red brick church. I am not sure what tree this is but I'm guessing it's 'Balayong' or the Palawan Cherry which is basically the tropical version of the Japanese Cherry Tree. Anyways, what's funny is that this tree blossoms on colder seasons specifically in December and showcases white flowers that has quite a resemblance with the Japanese Cherry Blossom. It also produces a cherry-like fruit (but I'm not sure if it's edible) and the flowers stay for more than a month, compared to the real Cherry Blossom.
Well, It's quite nice to see that the tree blossoms just in time when the park is filled with pretty Christmas decorations and even if it's surrounded by fancy lanterns and lights, the tree still stands up with its serene and natural beauty. I wish that Filipinos would plant more trees like this so even if we can't experience the actual Cherry blossom in Japan itself at least we have our own version.
p.s. and I hope you could tell me what tree this is.
